Spotlighting Gnome Create

There are many local businesses in the city, all doing great things, but we love one so much that we really wanted to highlight everything they do. Gnome Create is a very creative store located at 9 North Main Street. They always have something going on, and their events can be found on their Facebook Page
Christopher Antao opened Gnome Create in September of this year, and he's always doing great things for the city. "Gnome Create is also a place for social awareness events. We encourage any non profit to team up with us. Any "gnome apparel" sold 50% of profits will go directly to your NP. 10% of any local artist painting sold will go to your NP. You decide how it goes down, tickets or free of charge just let us, help you! Contact us, we are about creating change and love! Let's all support each other, everyone wins especially the lives of those we are touching!" (Quoted from Gnome Create's Facebook). Chris Antao also said, "on a daily basis 100% of my profits always go to Gnome Surfs Project Happy Camp."
We just love this from Gnome Create.

Stop Speaking Poorly of the South Coast

I don't think I can go a single day without someone trash-talking Fall River or New Bedford, and both cities have so much going for them: the beautiful views, the great people that live there trying to push them forward, the amazing food, and the local businesses doing what they can because they love where they live. Still, others don't see this they just see everything bad. Every city and town has its downfalls, but they're not highlighted as they often are in these two cities. If you really want the South Coast to change it's on you to do something about it.
To make a difference it really doesn't take much, just changing your attitude can do a lot. Speaking poorly about your city makes it okay for others to speak poorly about your city.
To make a difference start by not speaking poorly of it.
I also hear people saying they want change but not doing anything about it; hoping a politician makes a difference is not how things get fixed, it takes so much more than that. Just a neighborhood can make a difference, by fundraising and fixing a park, or even something smaller like a clean up day.
Stop speaking poorly of where you're from and do something to fix it.

Shout Out to the Dartmouth Police Department

If you haven't noticed by now the Dartmouth Police Department put together a PSA because of the recent clown sitings. Now the video has over 80,000 views and has been featured nationally on Good Morning America's Facebook page (with over a million views there). The video states "if you want to act like a clown, we have no problem treating you like one."
We wanted to thank the Dartmouth PD for a job well done with their video, and for protecting the town of Dartmouth! If you haven't seen the video yet you have to!

Talent Moving Forward

It is so amazing to see people from the area moving forward to their dreams. Aaron Lessard is a Westport resident, but currently attending school at Berklee College of Music, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Today, Aaron released his debut single "All Our Yesterdays." "All Our Yesterdays," is available on iTunes, and can be listened to here!
Aaron says, "for years I've wanted to bring my music to life but never had the opportunity. Now words can't describe how excited I am to make my dreams a reality and I can only hope that people will be able to enjoy and relate to the music I put out moving forward."

We are very excited for Aaron Lessard as he moves forward with his musical career!

#ShopFallRiver

Late last night I thought of something. It's common to talk about negative aspects of things and not the positive, especially on social media. No one tweets about how much they love their cable company, but about what's wrong with it instead. I don't like that, putting out negativity only attracts more negativity. Spreading negativity about Fall River is the same thing.

What am I getting at?

There are many local businesses in the city that can be harmed by the negativity that is spread throughout social media. I want that to change.

#ShopFallRiver is a campaign we're launching to share all of the amazing businesses in the city. All the time people post their food and new things on social media, next time you do it in Fall River add "#ShopFallRiver."

When am I going to post this? More than you would think!
If you get a hair cut in Fall River post a selfie! "New hair cut #ShopFallRiver," or maybe you get your car fixed in the city and post the finished product on Instagram, add the hashtag. Possibly you're out to eat at one of the many restaurants in the city, and out comes your delicious dessert, post it, #ShopFallRiver!

Let's keep Fall River working and Shop Fall River.

Local Music - Moment of Clarity

Local music is a big piece in art around the city, and there are many talented artists and bands in and around Fall River. Moment of Clarity is a band from Fall River, made up of mostly teenagers in high school.
Personally I strongly support young adults and children participating in something that they're very passionate about, like Moment of Clarity is about music. Supporting these musicians, and others, is a key ingredient to the success of art and music. Moment of Clarity is just one band performing in the Holiday Band Bash on December 13th, Admission is only $10, and the doors open at 5:30. So come by the Eagle (35 North Main Street, Fall River, Massachusetts) to check out Moment of Clarity, along with Always August, Tolerance For Failure, Milo Bigwig, and Bochek.
